Happy Hummus Day!

Ask most people what to do with a pot of hummus, and chances are their response will involve some form of crudité or bread stick.

If your best guess would have also been something along these lines, then you’re among the lucky few who get to experience the infinite 'no dip' possibilities of hummus for the first time… starting now.

With today being International Hummus Day, now’s the time to abandon all you thought you knew about this traditional middle eastern ‘dip’… and instead wrap your cooking skills around some of these lesser known hummus how-tos.

These include, but are not limited to, soups, pastas, salads, pizzas, sandwiches and wraps. It can even be used in mashed potato and savoury muffins. The options are endless...

Today, we’re taking inspiration from Comptoir Libanais, who combine hummus with falafel with Harissa Sauce, served with extra virgin olive oil and pickled turnips. Yes turnips...

If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, then one incentive is that hummus packs a serious punch of vitamins and minerals (including zinc and B vitamins), as well as protein and fibre, into a single serving.

This in mind, there’s good reason to put hummus on your meal planning radar, or if you’re a dab hand in the kitchen, why not use the opportunity of lockdown to unleash some homemade hummus on your palate!

So, here’s to Hummus Day, every day!
