Hot drinks and hunkering down are what chilly winter days are all about, but beware... falling into a chain-drinking coffee (or tea) habit can come at a cost!
Coffee and tea are well known for their nutrient-depleting / hormone-disrupting effects, so at the risk of avoiding the effects, it sometimes pays to swap an occasional brew for something more...soothing.
Enter... golden milk!
Golden milk is a nutritious way of enjoying a ‘hug in a mug’ in the cold weather, without compromising our vitamin profile or energy levels in the process. By providing a more sustained energy release than that of caffeinated hot drinks, golden milk also makes a great drink for pepping up flagging energy levels.
To make, simply add your preferred milk to a pan with 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup then simmer for 5 minutes.
