‘Travel exposes us to myriad of mind-expanding stimuli’

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

As holidays are put back on the horizon, it’s not just our travel prospects that are expanding…but also our potential for creativity.

According to research, the holiday elixir of sun, sea, and headspace, inadvertently creates THE ideal brain state for out-of-the-box thinking - a phenomenon which elevates the take-home from time away, above and beyond that of the 'holiday glow' cliche.

If you're wondering just why a creative boost is so important, keep reading..

Creative thinking is a vital skill in almost every aspect of human life. From resolving relationship issues, to finding ways around, through and out of life's many potholes. Without creativity, our navigational skills - and personal potential - lie latent.

This perfect *brain* storm of low stress and high positivity (we'll call it 'beach brain' for ease), is why time away can often feel as sense-making, as it is life-affirming.

It goes some way to explaining why so many life-changing epiphanies, breakthroughs and why-didn't-I-think-of-that-sooner moments, just so happen to happen, when we’re on the beach.

The effect is something we can certainly capitalise on, both personally… and professionally. In fact, we might even go so far as to say that, in the post-lockdown era, there is every chance that ‘going wide’ (expanding our horizons) might replace 'go big' as the buzzword of choice in corporate speak and five year plans alike!
