PLANT BASED HEALTH (and why Naked Gardening Day might ACTUALLY be good for you!!)

Gardening might not be everyone’s idea of a good time, but dedicating the time to a bit of planting and weeding could pay off in more ways than just creating something nice to look at.

Gardening is known to be one of the most therapeutic ways to while away a sunny afternoon, and not just because it reconnects us with nature, fresh air and a healthy dose of vitamin D. Next to this, there’s real health benefits to erring on the side of grubby with a bit of potting and pruning. Yes, you heard right, ‘green’ could be the new clean in the finger department...

After all, the ‘ ‘hygiene hypothesis’ says we’re all too clean, and that our immune systems are suffering as a result. With dirt being rich in homeostatic soil organisms, which are similar to probiotics, a spot of gardening could be a much needed antidote to SOME of the ‘hand-gel generation’s’ health problems.

With today being World Naked Gardening Day (yes, it’s a real thing) there’s a case here for considering how gardening fares in conjunction with naturism as a recipe for wellbeing.
