'Gazellig means embracing everything cosy, and creating a sense of togetherness and belonging'

We can’t resist a buzzword here at Health Magazine, and one that has struck a chord more than most on this chilly Monday morning is ‘gazellig’ (pronounced heh-SELL-ick.)

Gazellig refers to the Dutch ethos of embracing everything cosy, and creating a sense of togetherness and belonging. Warm colors, warm ambiance, warm vibes....is what it’s all about.

It’s a mood that we hope to have created in our Cosy Yoga class yesterday, where Fizz Yasin of @happyheartflow guided a relaxing aromatherapy-based session using the wonderful Made by Coopers products.

Aromatherapy is a widely underestimated antidode to everyday stress and anxiety, and the simplicity of this approach (breath in:breathe out) was demonstrated perfectly in this unique ‘good vibes only’ yoga class.

If you’ve ever questioned the mechanism behind aromatherapy, there is evidence that lavender, in particular, might react with certain neuroreceptors in the brain to help calm the nervous system, changing brain waves to a more relaxed state.

We used Made by Coopers ‘Sleepy Head' best selling atmosphere mist in yesterday’s class, which contains Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot and Frankincense - all renowned for their calming, anti-anxiety properties. As an added benefit, Made by Coopers products are also organic, vegan friendly, and contain no artificial fragrances or parabens.

It’s one of the stand-out benefits of aromatherapy, that it is something which which can be tap into at any time or place the need demands.  It’s also, some would say, an effective hack for helping create and enjoy the environmental feeling of ‘gazellig’ that we hope to have captured at least some of in Cosy Yoga yesterday.
