‘Home is where the bra isn’t’

Updated: Oct 13, 2020

You’d be hard pushed to find a woman who didn’t sacked off the booby traps (sorry, bras!!) to some extent during lockdown.

It’s a ritual that is as synonymous with ‘home time’ as the trackies on/hair up habit that down-time dreams are made of. This in mind, it’s no wonder that bras have become some of the most redundant items in our wardrobes in the last 6 months.

As blissful as the experience might have been, however, the prerogative does come with one quite significant down-side (quite literally.)

With one expert warning that going braless for too long could have a long term effects on the Cooper's ligaments in the breasts, causing them to sag, and posture to slump, the no-bra-bliss seems to therefore come at a heavy price!

A supportive bra plays a fundamental part in maintaining alignment, and taking this into account, there might be a case for reinstating some structure to the everyday formality that is getting dressed, however unnecessary it may seem.

Luckily, comfortable wire-free bra alternatives DO exist (phew!!), with the likes of Nudea Lingerie, Rossell England, Sloggi and Marks and Spencer helping us keep abreast of our health in these loungewear-presiding times. Times when, in so many respects, health and happiness really does hinge on those ‘little lifts’... in all their forms.
