Miles for Mind - join the ‘virtual race’ that’s helping to raise awareness for mental health

For many, running is a form of sanity. A way of clearing the mind, letting go of stress and gaining a fresh perspective.

It's no wonder then, that running is at the forefront of a mental health initiative starting today in support of the work of Mind charity. #Milesformind has been developed to help raise money and awareness for mental health through the power of running. It is a month long challenge which anyone can take part in, and for which there are 7 minimum distance targets available: 25 miles, 50 miles, 75 miles, 100 miles, 125 miles, 150 miles and a whopping 200 miles! All you have to do is sign up for the 'virtual run' and clock your miles. 100% of the profit from the £13.95 entry fee goes to Mind, and you can even set up a Justgiving page to generate further fundraising for the important work of this charity. This latest initiative is just one example of how a passion for fitness (or running in this case) can have positive ripple effects in other areas of our lives. It is very much the same philosophy behind the GYMANCE activewear brand, who sponsored our photo shoot for this feature. GYMANCE is a combination of the words GYM and ROMANCE, and is based on the idea that falling in love with fitness can be the catalyst to an even more important and fulfilling relationship ...the one we have with ourselves.
