In the UK, almost 10,000 people are newly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year. Unfortunately, survival rates for this disease are relatively low, mainly because the majority of patients are diagnosed when their cancer is at a late stage, when surgery to remove the tumour is no longer an option. This is why early diagnosis is key. Pancreatic cancer research has been underfunded for decades, receiving less than 3% of cancer research funding, even despite it being the UK’s 5th biggest cancer killer. One way to help raise awareness is by taking part in Pyjamas for PanCan! All you have to do is wear your pyjamas to work for one day, or you can even host a party at home.
