October is over… and it feels a bit emosh, to say the least!
I’d like to say I’m not sure of the reason why, but the reality is, I’m acutely aware that it’s because I’m almost of that age (give or take), where the passing of another month (another year, nearly!)… it cuts deep!
In the space of 12 months, it seems I’ve miraculously turned into one of those ‘aren’t the leaves pretty’ people!
Closely followed by…
‘Ohhh, look… a Robin!’
‘Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight!’
The middle-age clichés just keep on coming, and you know what… I’m not sorry!
Speaking to a friend the other day, we joked about this very phenomenon …and how with every advancing year, the trees, the sky, the birds - they all get more beautiful, and more likely to stop us in our tracks with a ‘this is what it’s all about’ moment of awe-struck-ness!
With October’s curtain call, the ‘change’ that this month encapsulates has seemingly transcended my once ‘meh’ mindset to all things autumn!
In fact, with a newly acquired taste for leaf-crunching and conker-caressing, I suppose it was kind of inevitable that I couldn’t let October pass by, without committing at least SOME of it’s heart-melt / stand-out moments to the posterity that is… the reel!
