It’s getting to that point in the year, when all the things we’ve DONE somehow come into sharper focus.
Valuable as this exercise can be in helping gauge the ‘success’ of the last 12 months, I’ve decided as well, that there might be equal benefit in clocking up all the things I HAVEN’T done, and which have backhandedly contributed to ‘progress’ pot... albeit in perhaps less obvious ways.
For example... I haven’t got quite so stressed!
I haven’t read the news (as much)!
I haven’t messed around with my skincare routine (the days of product roulette are officially done)
I haven’t hung onto clothes I don’t wear anymore (Vinted... it’s the way forward!)
These are just a few of the things I have STOPPED doing, although the list could certainly be longer and less light-hearted, if the tone of this newsletter weren’t intended to be so Merry and Bright!
The moral of the story?
That the signs of a ‘good year’ are not limited to the spawn of ‘Just Do It!’, nor are the biggest wins the stuff of social media showreels.
Instead, 2022’s greatest takeaway might just be the sum total of all those small, surruptitious triumphs over the time-wasting, anxiety-increasing and chaos-creating habits of a lifestime!
