A little while ago, I started watching the Netflix series, Schitts Creek…
Now, on the face of it, this
might seem to have very little to do with the topic ‘du jour’ (Women’s Day, in case you missed the memo), except on some level… it kind of does!
How, exactly? I hear you ask.
Well, let me tell you…
There is just something about the show’s protagonist- played by Catherine O’Hara - that makes me want to tap into my own, daring-clothes-wearing, no-f’s-giving self!!
It’s a vibe that any woman who’s ever known what it’s like to writhe in the quick-sand of self-doubt, would do well to channel even just an ounce of, whenever the need so demands.
I’ll readily admit, the ‘body nostalgia’ stick is one that has been prodding me with more regularity recently than I’d necessarily like, and while I don’t elude to having found a Netflix-shaped antidote to wishing I still had my twenty year old boobs, Schitts Creek has at least given me one thing….
Perspective!
Take this audio, for example, which is quite possibly just what the swimsuit shy need to hear, to inject some much needed ‘sod it’ into Swim Day (Friday), Women’s Day … and in fact, everyday!
My swimwear of choice? Well, you could say it’s a metaphor for this fierce, flexible, eco-conscious and f-free woman that I’m endeavouring to become!
Made by a female owned, UK independent brand, who specialise in sustainable, made to order swimwear - More Than Swim is helping Dopamime Dressing and watersport find some all important alignment… and just in time for Spring!
Complete with Powermesh lining, and certified with SPF 50, every design is made with planet friendly inks, thereby taking the concept of ‘pool ready’ to new, more comfortable, safer and greener levels!
Traditionally, I have always turned to swimming not just for fitness, but more importantly as a way to digitally-disconnect and ‘pool’ my helter-skelter thoughts - the irony of which is not lost on me, rest assured.
Today, the end goal of hitting the local swimming pool is much the same, but it comes with a reminder that any poolside booby/body procrastinations which threaten to steal my swim-sauna-spa thunder…should always be tempered with some Schitts - but actually pretty logical - home truths!!
